Milwaukee, WI - Lead-Safe Schools MKE, an MPS parent-led organization demanding answers and solutions to the current lead-in-schools crisis, wants the public to be aware of a new EPA rule that would change the interpretation of the Milwaukee Health Department’s lead risk assessments recently completed on MPS schools. 

Budget season means it’s time for Governor Evers to propose a bunch of things that sound good, wait for Assembly Speaker Robin Vos to laugh and say “nah,” then shrug and dump more public resources into voucher schools and charter schools, rounding it up to a progressive win in Evers’ press release.

In 2018, Governor Evers ran on reducing the prison population by 50%, but the population is now climbing fastest it has since before 2000. Instead of taking concrete and decisive action, he he’s choosing to float a reform plan to a legislature long determined to sink everything he does.

Whatever happens on Tuesday,  if either Brower or Kostal make it out of the primary, we need to all be laser focused on the real battle here, beating back the establishment and winning a seat on the Common Council for the left.

In addition to overtly Republican projects, the core of Cavalier Johnson’s day-to-day politics is simply aligned with Republican values: pro-business, pro-police, pro-oligarchy. You can’t pursue those interests without acting to harm many of the people living in Milwaukee.
