A Very Brief Update on the County Board Race

Last week we wrote a couple articles about the upcoming county board race. Yesterday was the nomination deadline for candidates, and one we were not aware of filed his signatures to run against Kathleen Vincent in district 11.

That candidate is a long winded former corrections officer, ardent bootlicker, and Trump apologist named Ryan Antczak who also ran for assembly and alderperson in 2024. Hopefully his effort will be unremarkable and irrelevant.

This means:

  • Stacy Smiter running against Felesia Martin is our best bet to replace an inactive centrist with someone to their left.

  • Our hypothesis on Jack Eckblad will be tested. We suspect his future votes will more reflect his corporate background if he is less afraid of being electorally challenged. Hopefully residents of District 4 will find other ways to hold his feet to the fire.

  • LeeVan Roundtree will be unopposed in Sequanna Taylor’s seat. We need to learn more about him.

  • There’s a good chance Maqsood Kahn will bring some (unfortunately conservative) Muslim representation to the county board by replacing Patti Logsdon.

Unless something highly unexpected happens with a sitting supervisor, giving a write-in campaign or Antczak a chance, these are the potential shifts to expect on Milwaukee’s County Board this spring.
