Democratic Party of Milwaukee County is currently led by two very conservative, stagnant, old guard figures: Chris Sinicki and Dawn Martin. Under their “leadership” our county clocked the second lowest ratio of party members to Democrat voters in Wisconsin. Sinicki has gone hard after Democrats who don’t toe her conservative, pro-genocide line.

The Republicans clearly should get whooped next fall. Unfortunately, at the same time they spectacularly and desperately fall apart, Democrats are quietly fizzling. Nationally, they  somehow have even lower approval ratings. The Democratic establishment might be the only people unpopular and inept enough to blow this chance.

There is no way to be neutral during the extermination of entire people and it is that simple: to not actively fight genocide is to be pro-genocide, and there are those in the Democratic Party who fall into that camp.

Here in Milwaukee, we really have an opportunity to polish off and repurpose an old indymedia slogan from the 90s: don’t hate the Democratic Party, BECOME the Democratic Party. The deadline to claim a delegate seat so you can vote for party chair is May 17, so act fast, and get after it!
