There is very little about Crowley’s campaign that will inspire Hong’s people to volunteer or donate, which is what it takes to actually win an election. His patchy decrepit astroturf ground game is going to be on its own. That’s why I’m afraid he might lose.

There is an opportunity here. If we put effort into it, we can shift the priorities of the Democratic Party, marginalizing corporate centrists, Islamophobic bigots, and other regressive elites, turning the party closer to left populism or democratic socialism, and then actually delivering on campaign promises.

Democrats are very likely to win this year, but the details matter. We must not allow Wisconsin’s centrists and bipartisan compromisers to waste opportunities. That starts with identifying and working, not only to win a trifecta, but importantly, a trifecta with a strong left populist presence.

Here at Milwaukee Beagle, we believe that beating centrist Democrats in Wisconsin’s legislative primaries is strategically important to ending corporate rule and unlocking permanent affordability in Wisconsin.

Chris Taylor was not running as a Democrat, she was running as a liberal. Just like the 5 successful liberal SCOWI justices before her. Liberals have been winning landslides in Wisconsin since 2015, while Democrats keep losing, or barely eking out a win.

We are conditioned to be scared of what it would take to divest from electoralism knowing what the hard work of a “revolution” would actually look like. So, we anoint a politician to do the hard work for us and praise ourselves for having the best understanding of the cage we are stuck in. 

Candidates who authentically stand for policies that clearly benefit voters can generate organic excitement. They inspire people to turn out, to volunteer, and enthusiastically chatter with friends and family. Bold candidates make elections fun, not annoying. An exciting candidate does not need a massive treasury.

In the US, the Democratic Party is the only political vehicle situated to challenge Trump in the midterms, but it is also controlled by the only people inept, sycophantic, heartless, and unpopular enough to lose against him. This is a very stupid situation.

Democratic Party of Milwaukee County is currently led by two very conservative, stagnant, old guard figures: Chris Sinicki and Dawn Martin. Under their “leadership” our county clocked the second lowest ratio of party members to Democrat voters in Wisconsin. Sinicki has gone hard after Democrats who don’t toe her conservative, pro-genocide line.
