Elon Musk is not the first racist elite trying to buy a Wisconsin Supreme Court seat
Wisconsin’s business elites have been buying SCOWI races for going on two decades. Digging into that history we see that conservatives use obviously corrupt, physically violent, and blatantly racist means to push their agenda. Defeating Schimel is not just about defeating Musk and Trump, it’s not just about returning rule of law and democracy to Wisconsin, it’s about taking the government away from Wisconsin’s own wealthy elites after decades of minority rule.
Common council District 3 Update!
Whatever happens on Tuesday, if either Brower or Kostal make it out of the primary, we need to all be laser focused on the real battle here, beating back the establishment and winning a seat on the Common Council for the left.
Campaign spotlight: Common Council District 3
Alexander Kostal is running on protecting renters, affordable housing, and preserving district 3’s income diversity. Kostal has been involved in public service his whole life. As a public defender, member of Milwaukee County’s Human Rights Commission, and in other roles, Alexander Kostal has spent years working for the common good.
Assembly District 93 Spotlight
While it can be easy to mobilize against electing a fascist, of which there are many running in Wisconsin, we must be equally excited to vote against the more ‘boring’ Republicans like Rolbiecki. Even though Rolbiecki as an individual might be ‘moderate’ by Republican standards, he has tied himself to an extremist party. He has given us no evidence that once elected to office, he would do anything other than vote alongside his extremist colleagues.
Assembly District 61 Spotlight
The race for Wisconsin Assembly District 61 is another vital race in Democrat’s path to take the Assembly. On the Republican side you have the power hungry, career politician, carpetbagger, current State Representative, Bob Donovan. Running on the Democrats side is LuAnn Bird who is also not a newcomer to Wisconsin politics. Unlike Donovan though, Bird’s history as a “career politician” is filled with heartfelt advocacy to actually improve the lives of those she represents.
Assembly District 92 Spotlight
While almost any Democrat would be better than electing Republican Moses back to office in District 92, Democrat Plouff seems to have the kind of credentials we admire which makes him someone to actually be excited about electing to office. We hope that his election will be able to help us in turning the Assembly blue and prying it from the weird and dangerous Republicans.
Wisconsin’s Weird Batch of Republican Hopefuls
From stopping webinars and keeping kids from having free bikes, to banning abortion, and attacking trans folks; the Republicans running for Assembly are as weird and fascist as ever. We must keep these weirdos out and turn the Assembly blue!
Campaign Spotlight: Assembly District 14
Nate Kieso, Brady Coulthard, and Angelito Tenorio are the three candidates vying for the Democratic nomination in Assembly District 14 in the upcoming primary on Tuesday, August 13th. While not every Democratic race can be clearly split into an establishment Democrat vs an actual progressive, working class candidate, in this case, the contrast between Kieso and his opponents –in particular, Coulthard– is clear.
Campaign spotlight: Assembly district 11
“This is not just a title for me. This, for me, is a way to push the community forward. People are dying, people are being harmed. We're losing people every single day. I don't want my community, District 11, the Northwest side, or the State of Wisconsin, to continue to feel like that is okay or that is normal.” - Amillia Heredia, candidate for district 11
