At the Congressional District 4 convention in March, Gwen Moore said there is no genocide in Gaza while arguing against a party resolution supporting Block the Bombs. 

She also watered down language in another resolution opposing the terror of immigration enforcement, and local coordination with ICE, known as 287(g).

There is an opportunity here. If we put effort into it, we can shift the priorities of the Democratic Party, marginalizing corporate centrists, Islamophobic bigots, and other regressive elites, turning the party closer to left populism or democratic socialism, and then actually delivering on campaign promises.

There are a diversity of tactics to opposing ICE. All of the protesting on the ground is important, even when it feels like it isn’t. There is an abundance of shit to stand against in 2026, but we have to keep focused and combine efforts where applicable. “The wrong Amazon is burning. The wrong ICE is melting.”

Wisconsin law prohibits hostile work environments that involve intimidation, verbal abuse, or retaliatory behavior. Nonprofits serving at-risk populations must adhere to the highest standards of care—not only for clients, but also for the employees and volunteers responsible for carrying out the mission.

It’s a massive failure on the sheriff, chief judge and county executive’s part and on the part of the county board in general that they are only now working on securing and protecting migrants at the courthouse. 

You can take action to ensure the processes for defending migrants that these stakeholders develop are as robust as possible.
